The last online seminar of 2024 will take place on December 12th from 16:00-17:15. Our keynote speaker will be Herman Pontzer who is a Professor of Evolutionary Anthropology and Research Associate Professor of Global Health at Duke University, Durham, United States.
“Living on a Fixed Budget: Evidence for Energy Constraint and Adaptation”
Herman Pontzer, Ph.D., Professor of Evolutionary Anthropology and Research Associate Professor of Global Health at Duke University, investigates how our deep, evolutionary past shapes our lives today. Dr. Pontzer’s research focuses on metabolic energy expenditure and the ways that lifestyle, environment, and age affect daily caloric requirements and cardiometabolic health. His team conducted the first measurements of daily energy expenditure in traditional hunter-gatherers and in non-human apes, with discoveries that have influenced the way we think about diet, exercise, metabolism, and health.
